Current Exhibits
The exhibits at the Tularosa Basin Museum of History change from time to time, although most of the collection is permanent.
Currently, you can enjoy exhibitions about the White Sands National Park, the most important towns and villages in the basin (Alamogordo, Tularosa, Three Rivers, etc) and the Native American Inhabitants that lived here as well.
We have really enjoyed the exhibitions about Holloman Air Force Base (where my husband is currently stationed) and the first Atomic Bomb that was developed in the area. Of course the part about the space shuttle was super interesting as well.
You can explore products from the La Luz Pottery, learn about the school of the visually impaired in Alamogordo and how they built the railway system back in the day.
All of the exhibitions are super interesting, there is a lot of material and knowledge. Everything is beautifully curated and assembled.

Who Will Love This Museum
I think anyone interested in the area or history will enjoy this museum. There is so much to see and learn, most people will find something that sparks their interest.
I would not advise to visit with smaller kids, since there are no separate child-friendly exhibits. Younger teens will most likely enjoy a visit.
Since there is a lot of military stuff, this is a great thing to see if you are visiting Holloman Air Force Base.
I would definitely rate this as one of the best things to do in Alamogordo.
